It’s time to get on the road again!
Dan has accepted his next travel nursing contract and this time we’re off to Phoenix, Arizona!
This will be our first warm winter; we couldn’t be more excited. We officially have an apartment lined up as of yesterday (one week before we start our drive!). Now that that’s done, we can really embrace the excitement. As we’ve said before, finding housing seems to be the most difficult of travel nursing.
Driving from New Hampshire to Arizona is going to be our second longest road trip together (and in general for both of us?). We leave this coming Sunday 11/27 and are planning to take six days and five nights to make the trek. If it were just the two of us we would probably try to make it out there a bit faster, but our trusty sidekicks, Pepper & Sage, probably wouldn’t appreciate that.
The last time we were out in Arizona was our grand Road Trip of 2016, right after we graduated high school. We took just about three and a half weeks to do a massive oval shaped drive around the USA. We stopped for one or two nights in sixteen places, driving through about 28 states, staying with lots of friends and family along the way. It’s incredible to think that we didn’t even drink coffee yet when we made that trip.
This road trip to Arizona will look a little bit different. The route is different and it’s a bit more of a just getting from point A to point B kind of a trip. We’re planning to leave a bit of extra time to explore Nashville though, which was originally our top choice for Dan’s first travel nursing contract. Check out my post on managing long road trips with cats!
This time around our stops will be:
Harrisonburg, Virginia
Nashville, Tennessee
Little Rock, Arkansas
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Albuquerque, New Mexico
and finally…Phoenix, Arizona
