I haven’t done one in Montréal before, but I love Airbnb and would recommend it (typically much cheaper options for sometimes nicer places!)

- Maissoneuve (a bit of a walk from central downtown near McGill)
- amazing dumplings

- amazing dessert place with so much chocolate…
- a bit pricey (Cacao 70 is a bit smaller and a bit cheaper)
L’Avenue
- far from central downtown
- pricey, but amazing brunch place

- a bit pricey, but huge portions

- delicious fancy pizza place
- they make an amazing spiced rum & coke

- Awesome harry potter bar on St Denis
- Truffle flatbread pizza that is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten
- may have closed down 🙁
Lola Rosa
- A few locations (place des arts, the mcgill ghetto)
- Really good vegan food
- Nacho plate is huge

- Super cute bar & café on St Laurent
The Standard
- Great coffee place, nice aesthetic
- Westmount

- Fun bar/café with good lunch food
Violet Angel
- in Saint-Anne-de-Bellevue
- Super good lime, mango, jerk chicken pizza
Maltehops
- Tiny local brews/specialty beer shop in Verdun on 4th and Wellington (I used to live on 4th right by the little park close to Wellington!)
Jukebox
- Fun, over the top diner with a bunch of crazy poutine options
Guaca & Mole
- Fun Mexican restaurant in the same plaza as Jukebox
Lido
- Great little café in Verdun that has done a ton of expansions since I lived there!
- Super nice owner & staff, was a 2 min walk from my place in Verdun so I was a frequent flier
Fromagerie Copette & Cie
- Super popular place in verdun, people line up to get their fresh breads, cheeses, and pastries
Boustans
- Classic late night eat for students – great Lebanese food and cheap!
Schwartz’s Deli
- the classic Montréal smoked meat sandwich
La Finca
- beautiful café (a bit small) on Rue de Bleury
- great grilled cheese
Fun Activities
Church 21 now has multiple locations around the city – check out their website for more information
Biodome
- have to metro there
- the biodome is like a mini zoo-type thing with a few specific habitats you walk through
- there’s a planetarium, insectarium, lookout over the city, and botanical gardens too which are beautiful
- in the fall (October) they have a festival of lights with Chinese & Japanese lanterns and it’s really beautiful and fun
Hike Mont Royal to the viewpoint by the Chateau
- or you can hike to the cross on the mountain

Just walk around, café-hop, and explore!

Westmount is a really cute (and ritzy) area to explore with lots of shops
- far walk or you can metro/bus there
- The Standard is a great café there
Shopping
- on St. Catherine’s (brand names)
- on St. Laurent or in Westmount or Mile End (more boutique places)
- in the Eaton Centre (brand names)
- the Eaton Centre is a cool, huge mall
Walk along St. Catherine’s and look at all the beautiful old cathedrals
Walk through Old Montréal on Rue St. Paul (towards the Old Port)
Go to Atwater Market or Jean-Talon (open air farmers markets with lots of shops)
- both a bit far from downtown, probably metro
- can walk to Atwater from Verdun easily, from downtown not too bad
Bota Bota
- Spa in the Old Port (a boat in the river that is a spa!)
Spa Le Finlandais
- in Rosemère so a bit outside of MTL
- DO THE THERMAL EXPERIENCE!
- I can’t recommend their thermal experience enough, Dan and I are obsessed with it – we stayed at the spa for our 1st anniversary
Randolph Pub
- on St. Denis
- a games restaurant where they recommend a game for you based on your interests (or you can choose) – they have a million and one games!
- hard to get in to, always very busy and I don’t think they take recommendations
- great sangria
Indigo
- Ave. Mcgill College
- big beautiful bookstore
Le Ronde
- They host an amazing international fireworks competition that you can watch from the Jacques Cartier bridge for free (they close it down for the show) – 10/10 recommend (just check the dates, I think it’s most Wednesdays & Saturdays during the summer)
