While I love making these and they come out so beautiful, they aren’t for the faint of heart…or for the one with a tiny oven. They take a loooong time to dry and you need to flip them every hour or so, but if you have a chill day at home you should be able to get quite a few done especially if you have a full-sized oven! If you dry them out well and pass on the cranberries you should be able to store them (in a DRY place) and use them again next year.
You can also use grapefruits or blood oranges for some colour variation! Lemons seem to just turn kind of greyish brown so I’d pass on those. I haven’t tried limes yet; let me know if you do!
*I’m typically able to get 4-5 slices out of one orange
*Instead of tying your twine in a knot at the end of your needle, just pull a bit extra through so you’re leaving a smaller hole in the oranges and cranberries (it will be easier to string this way too)
**The cranberries can be a bit tough to get the needle through, but you can use a towel or your sleeve to help get a better grip to pull the needle through
Check out the reel I made for a visual of the instructions!
